Today’s interview tells us a special story, an individual’s journey from childhood illness to becoming a nurse, emphasizing the impact of TeamGym on personal growth and life balance.
TeamGym has given me memories for life and helped me grow as a person, both inside the gym and in my private life.
We found out about your illness as a child. Do you remember any special dreams or goals you had during those years?
I got sick when I was 1,5 years old so I don’t remember much of the period I was sick, however there was a lot of visits and checkups at the hospital that I remember. It was more worse for my parents. Their goal was me to first of all survive and second have a functional life. During my illness and the time after I got free from cancer I always wanted to give back what I received as a kid. I’m very thankful for every doctor, nurse, physician and healthcare worker that took care of me. I have always wanted to be one of them.
When did you discover TeamGym and what has it given you in life and sport?
I started do gymnastics when I was around 5 years old in my hometown Linköping, it’s like 2 hours from Stockholm. I moved when I was 15 years old to invest in my career. I started a sports highschool that allowed me to do gymnastics two days a week during school hours. That was the beginning of me “living” gymnastics. Teamgym has given me memories for life and helped me grow as a person, both inside the gym and in my private life.
You studied to become a nurse, did TeamGym easily allow you to study and train at the same time?
I’ve been working as a nurse for over a year now. I just work two shifts which means day and evening shifts, no night shifts. For my whole life gymnastics has been my number one priority but after I started working, either I want it or not, that has switched. Work takes a lot of time and I work evenings which means that I miss practice. Then I have to compensate with going to the gym or practice with the juniors for example. And that’s okay because I have chosen that life, even tho I don’t like missing practice hours with my team.
