How many Teamgym competitions have you judged?

I started judging in 2002, so more than 20 years ago, what means judging several competitions, on different levels, on different apparatus and positions.

There were many regional and national, one Mid-European, four European Championships and plenty of international competitions at home and abroad. I remember a very special competition on a lower level where I judged on all three apparatus.

There were too few judges for that competition. At first tumble and trampet were done in one round. The judges panels were seated between the two landing areas, and I just turned my chair for 180° to be on the other panel. I handed in my score to the Head judge and turned my chair again. In the second round all floor routines were done. Between the routines the club organised some shows. The competition was different, but it was fun, and I judged a lot!

My experience as a gymnast helped. I always knew what elements should look like. It was easy for me, as I have done a lot of elements by myself. Furthermore it really helped my own career to know about the general rules and especially the requirements and deductions. In competitions at home head judges rotate. This means I am still judging on all apparatus. I am also doing a lot of judges courses which means making analyses and judging a lot for practice and exams.

How is judging Teamgym different from other disciplines?
